Please visit the Office of Strategic Alliances and Technology Transfer [website] for the most recent information about working with industrial sponsors.
Review the sponsor’s policy document and/or proposal guide, if any.
- Most MIT proposals to industrial sponsors are non-competitive and lack a policy document, proposal guide or any specified content and submittal process. For non-competitive proposals, the PI should ask the sponsor how it wishes to receive the proposal.
- For competitive RFPs publicly issued by an industrial sponsor, the sponsor will provide instructions that are unique to that competition, often through a web site. If RAS becomes aware of a competitive RFP from an industrial sponsor (e.g., Hewlett-Packard IRP or Samsung GRO), we will distribute a notification about this competition to department/lab/center administrators via the ra_ls mail list and/or to Principal Investigators through one of the mail lists managed by the Office of the Vice President for Research.
- MIT is invited to submit proposals annually to these competitive industrial RFP Programs:
- Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT) at Massachusetts General Hospital (http://cimit.org/programs.html)
- Hewlett-Packard Laboratories (HP) Innovation Research Program. Abstracts due in early February.
- Samsung Global Research Outreach (GRO) Program. Proposals due in May.
- Semiconductor Research Corporation (http://www.src.org) issues competitive RFPs several times a year, which usually start with a request for white papers. Requests for full proposals are issued after SRC reviews the white papers. SRC Guidance to Faculty Considering Applying for SRC Funding
