USAID is an international development agency of the federal government. It provides funding opportunities for international projects, including environmental efforts, humanitarian assistance, innovation, technology development and research, education, nutrition, global health, conflict prevention, and human rights.
RAS Guidance on USAID
Submitting and negotiating awards for international projects is complex, and each opportunity from USAID is unique. It is necessary to consult with the RAS USAID lead liaison at an early stage to:
- Review the requirements/expectation of the specific call
- Identify whether the call aligns with the anticipated Statement of Work (SOW)
- Ensure the PI and DLCI understand the parameters of a commitment to the project
The discussion will clarify expectations and explain the differences in application documentation, how these opportunities differ from traditional research projects, and nuances in financial and project management.
